About the Author:

Ashley R. King is a middle school English teacher whose love of the written word began when her mom took her to the public library, letting her check out stacks of books taller than she was. She’s the least athletic person you’ll ever meet, but that doesn’t decrease her love for her favorite sport, tennis.

She loves swoony romances and is addicted to sweet tea. When she’s not teaching or writing happily ever afters, she can be found snuggled up with a book, travelling, or quoting obscure lines from her favorite movies and tv shows. She lives in a small town in Georgia with her favorite person in the world—her husband, and their sweet and chatty spoiled cat, Cleo.

Review:

This book was one of my favorites of the summer. It had a solid plot and moved at the pace of a well-played tennis game. The truth is I know very little about tennis, but I learned right along with Amalie. The best part is that you don’t have to be a tennis fan either to enjoy this romance. Normally I do not pick a sports romance out of the pile of books, but I’m glad that I followed my gut for this one.

I was immediately drawn to charismatic Julian. I loved his banter with Amalie. The love/hate relationship really suited them. It wasn’t a huge stretch of the imagination that they wouldn’t adore each other right away. I mean they met when he was a drunken idiot at the bar trying to get laid. It was just a great set up for an underdog story that would build into a romance.

Also, can I just say that I loved Amalie’s best friend? She was a strong woman who wasn’t going to take Julian’s or Amalie’s bullshit. I really hope that we get a romance with her because I would totally read that one.

King’s writing was detailed enough that I didn’t get lost in the tennis jargon and also emotive enough that I got the characters. She gave us wonderful character development that made it so that none of her characters fell flat. It was completely believable and I wanted them together.

There were so many touching moments in this book that had me saying “aww.” You do not want to miss this one, especially if you are a fan of sport romance. This one will fit right in.
