Book Review: Bolt by Angel Payne

What’s the story?

Working the night shift at one of Downtown LA’s hottest hotels, Emmalina Crist has had her fair share of strange encounters—but none of them have prepared her for meeting Reece Richards, the charismatic bad boy of the Richards Resorts dynasty. Emma and Reece share an experience unlike anything they could have imagined, leaving Reece enraptured and Emma weighing the consequences of this supercharged night of passion with her boss.

But Emma learns fighting the flames only fans them, as Reece saves her life and is compelled to reveal his true identity as Bolt, the city’s superhero savior. She’s always wanted more than just a typical relationship, but falling in love with the man behind the mask is one electrifying ride. Defining their relationship is no easy task—particularly while they’re being subjected to the media’s spotlight, their families’ intrusions, and racing to stay one step ahead of the fringe scientists who want to get Reece back on their lab table.

Emma is helpless to resist Reece’s passion and power. He’s bolted her heart and soul forever. But can she reach beyond the normal expectations of reality, and even herself, to fight for the one ultimate superpower—true love?

Review:

Bolt is everything that I want in a superhero romance. I actually could see this story being turned into a comic book. It’s that good!

I loved the villain in this story. I think what makes a good superhero story is a good villain. If the villain is not someone you want destroyed, then what’s the point?

Angel Payne created a conflicted superhero that we could all fall in love with, but not too easily. That is what I loved the most about Reece. He wasn’t lovable at first. He wasn’t the billionaire with the heart of gold. Reece had flaws. He could be a serious ass, but deep down there was a man who wanted to have a normal relationship. He didn’t want to be alone. Emma was a perfect balance. She helped him to work through those emotions and bring out the hero in him, and he helped her discover who she wanted to be.

The chemistry between Emma and Reece was immediate. There are so many hot and steamy scenes in this story. A LOT. I appreciated them. Who wouldn’t want their chance to have relations with a superhero? Sign me up for a chance to get with Star Lord or Captain America.

This book is hot. This book is steamy. This book will have you wanting more.
